One of the biggest things I have learned to enjoy is making my apartment feel like a home. Here are the four elememts that make my space a one I love stepping into.

First, I love about the amount of natural light. I have windows all over, as well as a balcony that looks out onto the lake. During sunset, the setting sun reflects through the window in the breakfast nook, washing it in an orange glow. Also, the direction I face makes sure I have light seeping into my space constantly throughout the day.
Next is the balcony. Having an outside space was a top priority for me when looking for an apartment. I ended up choosing this one because of the immaculate views and vibes. It faces north, capturing the sunrise and sunset with all the beautiful colors they bring along. When it is warm, you can find me with the slider and windows open, sitting at the outside table reading with a glass of wine.
Now, my kitchen is in no way picturesque. It may have appliances of all different colors from various decades, but It is functional and just the right size for one person. I spend most of my time in here, cooking and baking the many meals I keep noted in my recipe journal (Blogs to come with recipes :)). It has just enough storage for my growing amount of cookware and food. After living with 5 other girls for 3 years, having a fridge and freezer to myself is a big change.

The last thing I love are the pictures and artwork adorning the walls and end tables. I spent the most amount of time finding artwork of complementary colors to enhance the space, while still being pieces that I enjoy. My living room and bedroom feature paintings, while the breakfast nook displays kitchen-themed art. I also have framed pictures of my closest friends and family scattered throughout. Their smiling faces actually cover one of my walls. They reminding me of all the fun memories I have had and places I have been.
I am no interior designer, nor will you ever find my space on any Pinterest board, but adding the small accents and unique touches make this space one I will always love.
