One year ago, I lived a very different life than the girl typing this today. A new life chapter brings new hobbies, and I believe I have found one!

Hosting
Growing up, my parents always hosted people at our house. Family dinners, sports team events, summer barbecues, you name it. We always filled our house with family, friends, and really good food any chance we got! Now that I live alone, hosting was something I was excited to do on a regular basis.
For the last 6 months, I have been on Instagram and Pinterest finding inspiration. Hosting has evolved so much and become very trendy to do. I started by seeing what other people are doing, things they are using, and food/drinks they are making. This helped me get a list of ideas, and see what things align with my personal style and layout of my apartment. Since I have a smaller space, being creative with presentation but also practical is KEY.

I started by getting brown craft paper and a set of new markers! A common theme I have seen is incorporating fun activities into your meals and time with friends; what better way to do that than drawing while you eat! I enjoy playing games and finding creative ways to make meals more personal and engaging, and this turned out to be absolutely perfect for me!
It was also a fun way to display the menu, have a quick and easy clean up, and test my friend’s hangman skills.
The Activity
Thanks for my wonderful co-workers, I have been going to a monthly silent disco! If you have never been, it’s the perfect mix of dancing, socializing and pure fun. Each person gets a headset that has different colors attached to a DJ’s station. Esch color is a different music genre, meetings everyone’s varying music tastes. To those who know me, it is no shock that this is how I spend a Friday night 🙂
I was so excited to have a college roommate spend the night with me and join for the adventure, which prompted my first ever dinner party! The dinner table was centered around prepping my friends for the disco. I set up a homemade taco bar with a personal favorite cocktail, the Moscow Mule!
We all sat around the table, eating and drinking, while sharing stories of our own post grad lives. Afterwards, just like in college, we all got ready for the night out together while listing to music on my small speaker. We danced the night away at the silent disco, and were laying in bed by midnight. Can you think of a better Friday night?
